About Us

 Facebook site is here http.www.facebook.com/group.php?v=info&ref=ts&gid=101014903273580 request to be added and you may self admin. I will ask nearer time for confirmation, you may print off your own sponsorship forms from the photos page and I will close applications shortly before the marching date.

The total distance is 53 miles making it roughly 25 mile days in light kit;

The following logistical support has been pledged by the chairman of Exmouth Royal British Legion and is confirmed good for organising now.

Friday 11th June. Meet at Exmouth Air Cadets Hall from 19:00 Over night stopover. Sleeping floor space for approx. 40 and car parking for approx. 20.

Mayor and town dignitaries to meet, greet and send off most likely that night not the next morning.

Preparation and Health and safety.

Very very important that you are prepared both mentally and physically for the march. The Following MUST be observed prior to committing for this event. Day one will be challenging, there are some steep hills around Budleigh Salterton for example. Feet must be well worn in IE tough skin on balls of feet, toes and heels, thick and thin socking is recommended and absolutely blister kit first aid for each marcher is very important.

The distance is considerable IE just about any relatively fit person can do 26 miles of hills the first day, but without fitness AND endurance training before and correct after care you will be locked solid stiff and cramped to death when waking up the next morning and fail the march! Binned!

NO extraction can be offered here, any marcher will be entirely responsible for their own egress. The coast guard will have a serious undertaking to extract a blister 'casualty' from anywhere so be doubly sure you can hack it before marching. NB many pensioners and Weebley ramblers do this route after a large pub lunch, so don't be daunted-be prepared!

This route is if you look at the maps and take into account its title "Coastal Path" in fact rather close to the sea, we will have the sun on our faces right from dawn as we are heading in an easterly direction, we will see sunshine right through the hottest part of the day until 14:00 when it goes overhead, all that assuming that it will be a clear day and the long term forecasts predict a real hum-dinging stinger of a summer, BUT it can by turn be blustery wet and windy being next to the sea-  and indeed both in one day and both into two days, so two litres of water per day minimum, sun screen, hat and light rain coverings in daysack essential

Royal British Legion has given its public liability insurance to the tune of £10 million cover. They ask only that for all this support we wear the POPPY APPEAL T shirts throughout.

Fund Management. Pay your hard scrounged money to them, I don’t want it… J

Alongside this site we have an internet donations site managed by the family of fallen Rifleman Capt. Mark Hale 2 Rifles. R.I.P. http://www.theundentabletrust.co.uk/ click on events and click on clock to clock and again on donate,

Established in his name to benefit exactly the very same charities that we wish to promote, as they serve our armed forces so very well and filter down into many smaller charities in the wider military community. There has been some discussion about T Shirts, wristbands. watch this pace for further details.
